Immediate Edge Blueprint

FINALLY The Immediate Edge Blueprint is nigh!! I have always been a big fan of the Immediate Edge (this blog has several reviews over the years see here, here and here) and in my reviews been very upfront that it takes an experienced and self driven person to “get” how to tackle the information inside. It’s kind of like being asked to write a university grade essay after coming out of primary school. Some people will be able to do it, and some will run screaming at the thought.

I am so pleased that Dan Raine and the guys at Immediate Edge have tackled the usability issue and in a very short time the Immediate Edge will have a lovely linear path to follow through the massive amount of information inside.

If you weren’t up to reading through my previous reviews let me give you a quick dot point breakdown

  • The Immediate Edge is a repository of tools and information to help you with your current online business
  • The immediate Edge provides some very cool tools as part of your monthly membership
  • The people I consider down-to-earth real people in the A List of internet marketers are members (scum not allowed)
  • The information will help you mature as someone making a living online, not keep you hooked on “schemes” and junior concepts

There is a waiting list to get in, but don’t let that stop you putting your name down as I hear a few more places will be opened up when the Immediate Edge blueprint is released.  You need to make sure you are on that list or it is a loooong wait to get in ( but SO worth it).

I have been a member for years and would never give up my spot in this privileged group (come to think about it, what other internet pay-by-month has been able to stand the scrutiny of time and still be full? I certainly don’t know of one).

Annual Immediate Edge Review

I just noticed something over at the Immediate Edge sales page that prompted me to write a new and fresh Immediate Edge review.  Go to the page by clicking HERE then hit your back button…instead of signing up at the usual amount you can take a good look round for only $1. It’s worth it just for the latest newsletter, let alone the hundreds of pages of content and applications.  Go sign up  now while I finish writing this review….I will have it complete when you get back.

So let’s review what there is behind the doors of the Immediate Edge.

Longevity

There are a lot, and I mean a LOT, of fly-by-night continuity programs out there. Continuity started becoming really popular as a business model around late 2008 and the catch cry now is micro-continuity, yet the Immediate Edge (IE) predates all of that and has been going strong ever since. Yep Ed Dale and Dan Raine launched IE in 2007 aiming it squarely at the self motivated advanced internet marketer.

Evolution

You can read my very first Immediate Edge Review here, and my second Immediate Edge Review here.  This third one is different again. That’s the great thing about IE, it’s not something that is frozen in time. The site has evolved, the information is new and exciting (and usually before its time), and things are a lot more organised and easy to find.

Ground Breaking

A lot of what you will discover in the Immediate Edge you will see suddenly become vogue with “mainstream” internet marketers about 6 months after it is taught in IE. Kind of like the techniques in the Thirty Day Challenge. Dan teaches what he uses to make a living and keeps very much “ahead of the game”. Sure makes it easy for the members to cherry-pick his ideas and processes and use them in our businesses. Or set up from  scratch from one of his instructive newsletters.

Value

Since my last review the Thirty Day Challenge Plus (30DC+) was created and sits neatly into that intermediate level of internet marketers that I mentioned was missing before.  The information that is only available for a month at 30DC+ is available year-round in the IE (bargain hunters like me will pounce on that little fact).

Listed in no particular order and I am sure to have missed out heaps are other benefits of membership

  • Ed Dale’s Buying and Selling Websites Course – Dominiche
  • Over The Edge – Beechworth – where most of what EVERYONE is doing now, was taught back then
  • Software, PLR resources,
  • Interviews and Newsletters
  • Training Modules
  • Project Diary
  • Hundreds of pages of “stuff” (get the trial to see what I mean!)

IE is an Aladin’s cave of gold class information.

This is starting to sound like a sales letter :/

Some things still stand from my very first review of IE. Dan still has trouble with his pre-announcing stuff (though he is MUCH better than he used to be). Keep a pinch of salt handy for whenever you see Dan mention something is coming up. Yet his newsletters are packed full of amazing information and instruction, and it is obvious he is quite brilliant at what he does.

To really benefit from IE you need to be a self starter and motivated to move forward under your own steam. This is not a place to get your hand held, it’s a shove in the back into the deep end and if you keep moving your arms and legs and keep your eyes open, you will be fine. This is actually a plus because the people you meet within the IE are all swimming, not sitting at the bottom of the pool bitching about how deep the water is.

It’s worth the $1 to see if you are a swimmer or a sinker.

Continuity Program

Immediate Edge – New Improved Review

Name: The Immediate Edge

Media: Membership Site

Cost: US$97 p/m

There have been so many changes over at the Immediate Edge that the review I wrote some time ago is very much out-of-date.

For those looking for information about what the Immediate Edge is, let’s start with the basics.

The Immediate Edge is a continuity learning program. Month on month new information in the form of lengthy newsletters, project updates, and educational videos, are made available to the membership.

The information is still aimed at the intermediate-to-advanced internet business owner. While there has been an influx of beginner types after the 30 Day Challenge seeing if the IE is for them, the information is still aimed squarely at those that are passionate and driven about making a living online.

Bonus modules have been added recently to the Immediate Edge such as the online version of Ed Dale’s Buying and Selling of Website Course – Dominiche,  access to the new 30DC plus learning materials and the mysterious (but exciting!) $10k project. These modules have added extra value to membership, and help cover the times when there are gaps in new content.

The IE has cleaned up its user interface to be more user friendly in finding things which was the biggest bug-bear new members had when coming into the program.

The addition of “project manager” Jon, to the already tireless work that Asbjorn does in the back office, should help keep the head rascal Dan Raine under some form of control.

While there is more structure in the current layout, learning is not in a linear form. This has been part of the philosophy of the IE from day one, learning is up to YOU the student.  Self motivated and passionate students please apply.

There is one small issue with the IE that you as a member will need to accept, and that is Dan Raine’s enthusiasm in announcing things that aren’t quite ready for publishing. Often there will be an announcement of something exciting that will be here next Tuesday and then a short-to-long gap before it actually eventuates. This is one of Dan Raine’s charming quirks, and one I am sure his business partners would love to remedy with gaffer tape and a good flogging with a paddle. I don’t think he is going to change though….

I do recommend the IE. It is not your usual learning program, it stretches everyone that becomes a member as well as providing great cutting edge content.

Traffic Android

Name:Traffic Android

Media: Stand alone application (windows)

Author: Nathan Ridley

Before you Mac users start running from the hills, I know you all can run windows programs through various means and this application is one you really should be running. Read on if you are serious about making your social bookmarking a million time easier .

Social bookmarking has become an essential part of any good website creation procedure. An absolute must-do if you want your site to be picked up quickly by search engines and to start traffic rolling in. Because I am an absolute stickler for quality content creation I am going to assume you are too, and that you are proud to get your work out there for someone to see. I never bookmark crap nor should you.

There have been a few ways to do your social bookmarking up till now

  • you can go to the websites yourself and manually enter in all the details one by one
  • you can go to web based sites that will go through all of the sites, log you in and you still manually enter information
  • you can outsource to a stranger and trust them to do it (and NOT use your log in details elsewhere)

All really time consuming, brain sapping solutions to an essential part of your business.

Then along comes Traffic Androidand BLAMMO! all I can say is hallelujah do I love automation.

Traffic Android User Interface

Traffic Android User Interface

You can see from the screenshot I did some pretty heavy duty testing before letting it loose on real sites. I wanted to ensure there was no damage to the account doing the bookmarking, or the sites being bookmarked. I obviously wouldn’t be writing this review if things went pear shaped now would I?

The thing that sets Traffic Androidapart form websites and outsourcing is the ability to schedule WHEN your sites are bookmarked. Traffic Android can be set up to a full 7 days in advance, which means that Google ‘disappearing act” you just know is coming for your new site can be bookmarked all the way through and pop back bigger and better than ever.

If a bookmark didn’t take you can review at any time via the tool and set it to run automatically again at a later time, or hit the immediate execute and complete. All that frustration of when a social bookmarking site is playing silly buggers is removed, no need to try and remember which site you did and which site you didn’t already do.

In short the money you spend on Traffic Android will be recouped in super fast time just in the hours you save fiddling around manually submitting (or paying some stranger to do). And real businesses use real business tools like these, real business owners will be using this to cut the costs as soon as they can get their hands on it.

My Ninja Free Blogging Platform for Quick Google Ranking Secret

I am mixing two pieces of information I read this week into one post to see whether the desired results occur.

Supposedly i will get more traffic by using the word Ninja in my blog title and giving away secrets – for free.

Well here is a secret I have held onto for a year.

Terapad blogs

Free hosted, easily used blogging platform. Great templates, fast Google results.

Case in point.

At 6:04pm I put up the Ed Dale Mankini blog

I did the very basics for SEO on it. And NO social bookmarking.

At 8:44 pm the blog was in the Google search results at position 14.

I love their product. A LOT.

Great for beginners who want to pop up a blog for a niche. (I am talking to you Thirty Day Challengers out there!)

Terapad WELCOME people who want to set up niche blogs with them. Why? Because they make money from the ads on blogs, and the better traffic you get, the better ad revenue they get, so they do a lot of the grungy SEO stuff for you.  Their ads are adsense anyway, and if you own an ad and you have set up the blog correctly, you are getting the two birds/one stone effect.

Try it out and tell me how you go with your results!

p.s. they have a COOL thing that will get you extra traffic too

Update: It is now 6:04 am, 12 hours after setting up the Ed Dale Mankini blog and the blog is now sitting at 7 in the search tearm….

Make Real Money on the Internet

Title – Make Real Money on the Internet

Media – Book

Author – Stephen Pierce

Another one of my reads during the enforced week away form everything. I signed up for a “free” copy from one of Stephen’s mailing lists (one I am now unsubscribed from), and only paid international postage to receive it.

I should have known better really. This is a 133 page sales letter which covers all of the commonly known information about newbie internet marketing with all the dramatic language all “imagine this and imagine that”. Inside the front cover the title has a banner proclaiming “The World’s Most Powerful Money Making Manual for the Internet”…erm isn’t their laws about making claims like that?

Yes the cynic in me is running at 100 miles an hour but who can blame me when the Stephen Says sections (thought points highlighted in the book) really are pap

We’ve gone to Australia, Sydney and Melbourne

I wonder if

a) is he trying to make out he has been to 3 places or

b) he pitches to a market that doesn’t know that Sydney and Melbourne is in Australia

or c) all of the above (my choice)

OK so it points to a lot of Stephen’s products and that is to be expected because in the long run that is what will be making him the real money. He is prepared to put a physical book in the hands of the average punter, who will give it more credence and weight than an electronic item. It is natural to give respect to something physical over something that you downloaded and might have to print out on your own printer… He even tells you that is what he is doing, by recommending the reader do the same thing.

As a side note, if you go to the page to sign up for the free book and don’t read pretty darn fast prepare for a rebuking….I REALLY did not like that tactic at all. It probably works to push the average mum or dad through the fear barrier, but cmon, a little respect, you wouldn’t need to push if you were selling a good product that has great word of mouth.

I would not recommend adding to the destruction of trees by signing up for this.

Why Work Sucks

Title – Why Work Sucks and How To Fix It

Media – Book

Authors: Cali Ressler & Jody Thompson

I had been waiting for this book to be released after reading about it on Tim Ferriss’ Four Hour Work Week Blog. As a manager in a corporate environment I have been been slowly subverting the usual ways of looking at “work”.

Think about it. (some sweeping generalisations coming but stick with me)

Offices work using the same tools, hierarchies and focus that have been in place for hundreds of years. When people moved from the land to centralised industrial work places (and we can go back further to serfdom and slavery) the fact that work was a) dangerous, b) unpleasant and c) allocated to people as young as 7, meant the need to have a supervisor standing over the worker (with a stick) to ensure they worked. Work hours were dictated by how much light was needed to complete the task, light was dictated by sunlight hours, and time suddenly became the focus of work rather than the task at hand.

No one wanted to work, they had to work.

Things have changed. The majority of tasks are no longer life threatening; technology has simplified and eased the burden of most of us. We have electric light! Telephones! Internet!

Yet we still work to the clock with a supervisor standing over us with a stick….

Why Work Sucks touches on a new way of thinking about work. ROWE (Results Only Work Environment) is the goal and using the example of Best Buy who implemented ROWE over a period of years the book covers views and ideas that came out of that change.

Despite working in a corporate environment, the idea of a ROWE is not alien to me. In fact, it seems absolutely logical, let’s see if you think the same way.

Workers in a ROWE do not work to the clock. They have very clear tasks with very clear deadlines and work they way they want to work to complete those tasks.

Using a non-work example that everyone should be able to identify with.

Remember back to high school or university when you were given a period of time to write and essay. You knew what the essay had to be about and you knew when you had to hand it in, everything else was up to you.

Knowing how you worked best, you may have knocked that essay over in the first day at the library and used the rest of your time to go out with friends. Or you may have done a little a day at a time at a coffee shop, or you may have left it all to the last minute and did it from home. If the essay was of a good enough standard then you received a good mark, it didn’t matter or depend on when or where you performed the task.

Now apply this to the work environment.

Employees are given very clear tasks with very clear expectations for what the result should be. There are no core hours, no need for desk time, no schedules.

Now I know that there will be many of you that will shake your head and say this just won’t work in your area/industry. And in some it won’t, a nurse can’t just look after her patients whenever she feels like it for example. Yet there will be parts of her job that she will be able to move to ROWE. Look at HR and performance reviews, expense paperwork, ordering of supplies etc etc….

Back to the book.

The first thing that struck me was that it is only around 200 pages long…in biggish print. Do not expect depth as the view in most parts is from several thousand feet. If you are looking at instructions on how exactly to implement you will not find it here. As a worker you might have been looking for how to create groundswell to bring this into your company, this is not covered either.

In fact it is not until the last page in the book that all becomes clear (internet marketers take note). The last page includes a link to, surprise surprise, the authors’ company CultureRX (they have become consultants) who will help you bring ROWE to your work place. I just read the longest sales letter I have ever read ….without realising it till the very end. Nice work ladies!

As an idea generator and a look at what future work places will be I heartily recommend the book. My imagination ran wild and I have left the book laying around “seductively” so my fellow managers are now discussing the ideas inside. If you an employee this would make a great gift for your manager (if they are open minded) or for a colleague (if your manager is not open minded) so you can start a movement within your workplace to a more logical way of working.

Kreating The Knews

I am a sucker for new things that are based on a great idea. I believe that Knewsroom has the potential to have a bit of an impact on the way news is imparted on the internet. In its infancy though, the balance of material linked to is fairly and squarely not original content, which is a real shame.

But I jump ahead.

What is this Kluster thing that is running Knewsroom?

Well, the best way of learning what they are is by looking at their history page. This is the cutting edge up so close and in stop motion photography so you can see the skin peeling apart and the blood vessels rupturing. All sounds very dramatic, but this could be the start of something BIG (as they say in the classics).

Flick over then to the Theater page and watch the movies for a bit of fun.

So these guys have been to TED and have a cool web presence and utterly rock their world. I like them and their attitude, and hope that their journey has a better ending than Pippa Bacca‘s who also set out to change the world with grand ideals.

Back to the Knewsroom; which appears to have spawned while things are quiet in the design part of the site. Lots of pent up creative people with nothing to do is so much potential energy going to waste, and so a community driven “news you want to read about” is evolving.

Now it is pretty clear that the original idea will need some work, as I mentioned above the links to pre-written stories on other news sites seems to me, to defeat the entire process. Why read tomorrow about something that you could have read today. There needs to be an influx of clever people and writers (like the people I like to follow on Twitter) bunging their stuff up there act as the catalyst for others to also join in (I hope my Twitter friends are reading this).

Also as the whole thing is in its infancy a group of 3 or more people should be able to influence what is on the front page just by block investment. This probably already happens, so investing where others are, rather than what you would like, is the smart move….and totally against the whole notion of group choice.

For my marketing friends I see this as also an opportunity to demonstrate authority should you fit into one of the wide (but in reality narrow if you are focussed entirely on internet marketing) subject headers. Get a following and you will be raking in the attention (and supposedly the bucks).

Even though there is potential to make money on this site, I really think that is a minor part of the whole thing. I get off on being in a crowd (or leading a crowd) that is working on something exciting.

Maybe this will be something awesome, stupendous, game-changing….or maybe it was just yesterday’s news.

UPDATE: Knewsroom now pays $150 for each original story published!

Review: The Immediate Edge

Cost: US$97 p/m

immediate edge logo

Please note this review has been updated here – Immediate Edge Review

I have been a member of The Immediate Edge since it opened almost 12 months ago. At US$97 a month is the most I have ever invested in anything to do with internet marketing. So is it worth it?

Let’s look at the names behind the Edge. Ed Dale and Dan Raine.

Ed Dale is the super nice guy with gorgeous kids and a pedigree in being a “real” person who has made it through being smart and in the right place at the right time (and not by accident).

Dan comes across to me as the one that knows the dark side and would use it if necessary to achieve his goal. Sort of like Professor Snape in Harry Potter.

Together they make a quite impressive team.

BUT they are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. Being excited by the lure of the “new” it often seems that projects trail off into the ether and no satisfactory closure takes place. Several sweeteners for joining, such as the share issue, seem not to have got off the ground at all.

If you are looking for a step 1, step 2, step 3 = profit! You mostly won’t get that in the Edge.

What you will get is some great thought provoking ideas to build on for yourself. The Edge is not a place for the faint hearted, or the unmotivated. There are no “lessons” at the Edge, you learn by watching projects evolve, you apply what you have learned to your new or existing projects.

I advise you not to jump straight from your first Thirty Day Challenge straight into the Edge. You will be disoriented if you do. Go off and put into practice what you learned in the 30DC for at least 6 months. Get a grip on working unsupervised, and learn where your true passion is. Then sign up if you still want to.

In short: not for the beginner but great for those who can adapt and apply concepts to existing businesses.

Review: How To Turn Your Million Dollar Idea Into A Reality

Title: How To Turn Your Million Dollar Idea Into A Reality

Media: Book

Author: Pete Williams

Review: Pete has invited readers of his blog to write a review of a section of his book How To Turn Your Million Dollar Idea Into A Reality in return for the chance to win some great prizes. While the opportunity to win great prizes is alway an incentive to get me to do something, the other bonus here is that I get to read some of Pete’s work before deciding whether to buy or not.

Chapter 3 Building on Other People’s Ideas is all about how other people have taken an existing idea and either improved it, or marketed it, into a wildly successful businesses. This is the sort of inspiration many people are looking, and need, for as having an “original idea” is about as rare as the proverbial hen’s teeth.

While many famous examples are included Pete would not want anyone to think that each idea will lead immediately or always, to huge amounts of success. Capitalising on the information in chapter 2, you have to select what will be the best idea to build on. No good designing a better mouse trap if everyone is happy with the one they have. There must be a market for what you are selling . Creating products that no-one wants is like masturbation, it may feel good at the time but in the end you are only f***ing yourself.

All-in-all good solid basic information that a beginner needs, and a more experienced person needs reminding about.
