The Four Hour Work Week Project Manifesto

four hour work week manifestoThe definition of manifesto goes something like “a public declaration of principles, policies, or intentions”. While usually related to political statements, it really can be used in any context where strong feelings are combining with declared actions or beliefs. A manifesto is the building block on which strategies, mission statements, vision statements and tactics are created.

In the last month I have sat down and created my manifesto. It was an empowering exercise that left me feeling quite invigorated after completion. Letting yourself loose on a piece of paper writing about something you are passionate about is also a lot of fun.

If you haven’t created a manifesto yet, I can heartily recommend the process. The act of focusing on what is driving you helps feeds the fire of your passion, much like a star creates its own fuel to burn more brightly.

So What Does My Manifesto Look Like??

To truly be a manifesto your intentions need to be public and so here it is!

I hereby publicly declare to the world via the internet that I will, on December 1, 2010, leave corporate life forever. No longer will I work for anyone but myself. No longer will I be held to ransom by a large multi-national company.

I also declare that in the years, months and days leading up to December 1, 2010 I will build multiple streams of income from as many passive sources as possible. I will not be a burden on society or my partner when I leave permanent employment as I will have a satisfying, successful business of my own to support me. This will be a true business, not a day job.

I will create a professional appearance website that will never deviate from my personal moral convictions, even if this means forgoing making money. I will ensure that I offer value and integrity to my readership, never settling for second best in anything I produce.

In doing all of the above I will record everything I do so that it can be referenced by others with the same goals or similar.

I will never have a long sales letter as one of my pages, they are an abomination.

This leads me to express my opinion of those on the internet that choose to thieve, bully, trick, coerce, rip-off, or other activities that divest the less intelligent or experienced of their cash. You are filth and scum and have polluted the internet for all users. I wish to see you gone from the internet; Forever.
