Thank You Tash!

I want to introduce a hero of mine. I have never met her, nor spoken, but this 7 year old has reached out to help me. Her name is Tash and she is doing something sleflessly for the good of others. While there are many kids out there at the moment doing the same thing, and every one of them is a hero, but for today Tash is my special hero.

The dedication that my hero has shown during the last 30 Days in reading every day (and being VIDEOED doing it)  is an inspiration to me. She did not give up when she so easily could have. She showed tenacity when a child of her age would rather be playing, she showed spirit when she could quite easily have been grumpy, and she showed that helping others is not something that “someone else should do”.

Thank you Tash, when I think of you I get a lump in my throat and my eyes get misty. If I can help you in anyway to reach your goal I will follow your lead and try my hardest, just like you have done for me, and others who have Multiple Sclerosis.

If you feel like me and are grateful for heroes like Tash then please add your pledge to Tash’s contribution page. She is just over halfway to her goal and every dollar counts in getting her there.

The Leg of Lamb – A Modern Parable

Like most little girls, this little girl liked standing at her mother’s side and asking questions about what she was doing. It is how little girls like to learn, they watch and ask. One day her mother was making a roast leg of lamb. Now lamb is very expensive these days, but back then it wasn’t so bad, in fact you could buy a whole SIDE of lamb for the cost of what we pay today for a leg, but that is not part of the story.

The mother took the trusty baking dish from the cupboard. You know the one, its been used for years, every Sunday it is in the hot hot oven, cooking some kind of delicious meat. The mother put the dish on the counter, then took the leg of lamb and put it on the wooden chopping board. With a big knife she cut off just over an inch, but less than two inches. Before she could stab the meat and put peeled garlic cloves in the muscle then smear the skin and cut with French mustard her daughter piped up.

“Mummy” she said “why do you cut off the end of the leg of lamb?”

Her mother pondered the question.

“I am not sure. My mummy (your grandmother) always did. Why don’t you ring her up and ask her why”

So while her mother peeled the potatoes and stringed the beans the little girl called up her Grandmother.

“Granny, why did you cut the end off the leg of lamb?”

Her Grandmother laughed and said

“You know, my mother always did it so i did, let’s ring Great Great Aunty Dora, she will know why” (Great Granny died a looong time ago)

The Grandmother rang Great Great Aunty Dora and conferenced in the little girl. Granny is pretty technologically hip don’t you think?

“Dora” Granny said “Can you remember why my mother used to cut the ends off her legs of lamb?”

Great great Aunty Dora might be old but she is sharp as a tack and replied without a moment to even search through those long long years of memories.

” Of course I do. When your mother married I gave her a baking dish as a wedding present. Thing is, I was not much of a cook myself and the dish was not really long enough for a leg of lamb. I wasn’t to know back in those days. Your mother would cut the end off the lamb so it would fit into her little baking  dish”

This is a story I have told in a few presentations as an ice-breaker about change, and questioning why things are done the way they are done.

I hope you enjoyed it.

Make Real Money on the Internet

Title – Make Real Money on the Internet

Media – Book

Author – Stephen Pierce

Another one of my reads during the enforced week away form everything. I signed up for a “free” copy from one of Stephen’s mailing lists (one I am now unsubscribed from), and only paid international postage to receive it.

I should have known better really. This is a 133 page sales letter which covers all of the commonly known information about newbie internet marketing with all the dramatic language all “imagine this and imagine that”. Inside the front cover the title has a banner proclaiming “The World’s Most Powerful Money Making Manual for the Internet”…erm isn’t their laws about making claims like that?

Yes the cynic in me is running at 100 miles an hour but who can blame me when the Stephen Says sections (thought points highlighted in the book) really are pap

We’ve gone to Australia, Sydney and Melbourne

I wonder if

a) is he trying to make out he has been to 3 places or

b) he pitches to a market that doesn’t know that Sydney and Melbourne is in Australia

or c) all of the above (my choice)

OK so it points to a lot of Stephen’s products and that is to be expected because in the long run that is what will be making him the real money. He is prepared to put a physical book in the hands of the average punter, who will give it more credence and weight than an electronic item. It is natural to give respect to something physical over something that you downloaded and might have to print out on your own printer… He even tells you that is what he is doing, by recommending the reader do the same thing.

As a side note, if you go to the page to sign up for the free book and don’t read pretty darn fast prepare for a rebuking….I REALLY did not like that tactic at all. It probably works to push the average mum or dad through the fear barrier, but cmon, a little respect, you wouldn’t need to push if you were selling a good product that has great word of mouth.

I would not recommend adding to the destruction of trees by signing up for this.

Ed Dale Mankini – It’s War!

The Ed Dale Mankini Story – Part 1.

What is so special about the phrase Ed Dale Mankini ?  When several slightly crazy but highly competitive Thirty Day Challenge personalities get together and spontaneously start challenging each other to own the #1 spot for the search term, then you know there is going to be….mayhem… insanity…narrowed eyes

Ed Dale MankiniDisclaimer, may or may not be the REAL Ed Dale

Currently I own the top spot for this search term. Though there is some dispute depending on some geographically handicapped people who live in the…UK.

ed dale mankini google USA results

I win! and at the end of the 30DC I will still be winning! Ner ner ner!

Interesting that 69% of the last 12 hour’s traffic came from the search term “ed dale mankini” :D
