The 30DC is excellent. Anyone besides Clare who comes across this, if you are at all interested in learning about internet marketing - you have to take the 30dc.

I did my first challenge last year and the simple minded focus of trying to make just $10 online is crucial to getting over the "paralysis by analysis" the so many beginners feel.

I started a niche site after completing the challenge. I had no idea what I was doing. I used my computer for e-mail and websurfing before the challenge. Now, I have a $27 info product that is averaging about 10 sales a month.

That is obviously a tiny profit but its a start. And I've got plans.

If the longest journey begins with a single step let the 30dc be your first step.

Good Luck Allison and all the 08 30DCer's.

Hi Clare welcome to my blog! I'll be over to yours in a second.

I have participated in the 30DC over the last two years. First year didn't make the goal (and was super n00b), last year made it and I have stayed with it ever since.

Yep I can see how it could look like spam, hence just putting it out there in this post as an unwanted request :)

Seriously (and I have NOTHING to gain from hyping it) I find many diamonds in those 30 days for not only selling/marketing/promoting things online...but the interaction with like minded people, smart people and every day people when they succeed at making $1 online is quite exciting.

Like anything there will be bits that annoy you, some complain about Ed's Australian accent, some about the training not being as structured as they would like, some wait daily for the "catch" that never comes. Take what you like and leave the rest.

Ed and Dan teach a process aimed at the very new (but can be used by anyone) to get them started online. This process uses stuff that is just breaking ground on the net. 2 years ago it was blogging, last year it was twitter and social bookmarking...why do you think I am on Knewsroom at the moment? I see potential and no footprints in the snow, and looking at it as I think Ed Dale would, I am testing the waters for what it is all about and whether it can be useful to me and others (which has nothing to do really with the 30DC but does explain why I like learning from Ed and Dan)

If I wanted to be truly cynical I could say that the whole thing is just a funnel exercise to get people into their paid membership site. But the reality is it is more likely they are just doing it for recognition of their Brand..Ed Dale and Dan Raine. I find Ed Dale a nice guy who is straight up and down and doesn't trip my bullshit meter. Unlike the other...."gurus".... out there.

30 days is a bit of a commitment, but I will still be investing my time in it, even after all i have learned in the last couple of years.

hi Allison, bumped into you at Knewsroom.
Your project is really interesting. I don't think you can beat conversation and collaboration as the method for finding your niche. I abandoned the day job a year ago and so the search for income streams is pretty close to my heart.
So what's good about 30 day challenging? Cos, you know, it does look like another free opportunity not to be missed spam?
But I'm a sucker for word of mouth so if you let me know why you've signed up I might do so as well :)
