Tools To Make The Four Hour Work Week Work

If you have read Tim Ferriss’ book The Four Hour Work Week you will know that getting other people to do the work you don’t enjoy, or have time for, is a large part of the process. I have two services I want to mention that are helping me get to 4HWW in leaps and bounds.

We Make Videos For You

We Make Videos For You is a service that creates professionally voiced over videos at a ridiculously low price. Lisa Hartwell (my business partner over at SWBN) creates and voices over videos of your sales letters, blog posts, marketing or advertising efforts.

If you do not have the time, or expertise, or just don’t enjoy creating videos then get We Make Videos For You to do it for you. A must visit service every time you need this kind of work. The best bit is the price is right for small business, sole traders and the bootstrapping startup.

Replace Myself

Replace Myself is an outtasking – outsourcing service that gives you the tools and access to people to do all of the work for you. This service is a must-do for anyone who wants to get the 4HWW really happening. There is NO way to make it happen just by yourself.

I have spoken of them before and continue to be impressed by the people I am hiring and the quality of the work.  Currently I have a staff of three who are creating niche blogs by the bucket-load. They also manage my stable of existing blogs and domains, leaving me to focus on the blogs that I do for fun and the face-to-face work I do with my clients.

  3. I’m interested in your experience with these services. Are your staff really effective at creating niche blogs? And are these blogs profitable for you? What kind of time investment do you have to put into tweaking their work to your liking? This sounds like a pretty solid idea if the workers you’re hiring do a good job. But I always wonder, if they can make you a profit, that means their work is making more money than what they’re being paid – so why don’t they just do it for themselves instead of for you?

Thanks for the comment and questions.

    1. If you use an experienced person they will be able to start churning out the blogs from day 1. I use the 30DC as training for my guys who start creating a blog around day 4-5 of the training.

    2. I spend about 10 minutes a day checking their work to make sure it’s original. My writer will create one post and send to me for approval and comment. He then will continue to create posts of the same quality. I do not allow my guys to create crap.

    3. Profitable blogs depend on the business plan you are working to. My business plan for the niche blogs involves keeping the big income earners and selling the other blogs via Flippa.com. A well ranked blog gets around $100 US.

I will also be using the team to create small business blogs for my local business consultancy business, and that is high paying and continuous work.

    4. If your business plan is sound then you should be able to ensure the work created is profitable

    5. The income earned by these people is for subsistence living. Many are affected by the high unemployment in their country, and their cost of living is much lower than ours. The cost of a .com domain and hosting takes food from their mouths. I am sure many do take what they learn and strike out on their own, but most are looking for a steady income so they can support their family, or pay for living expenses while they study.

  5. Hi Allison:

I stumbled across your site today during a research project that I was doing for a client. When I saw the name I just had to stop by to see what your site was about.

I read Tim’s book several months ago and believe his book and the popularity surrounding it is part of the reason that Virtual Assistants, such myself and what you are starting with “Replace Myself” are now a very hot and growing industry.

I did enjoy the book, while I did disagree with some things in it.

Have an awesome time with your project! (BTW, I really liked your comment post too, I just figured out the plugin for WordPress so my site is now a dofollow one as well).
